Trait Screening in Carrot

The Carrot Diversity Set has been screened to look for useful variation in a range of traits including:

• Morphology of roots and leaves
• Flowering time
• Seedling vigour
• Susceptibility to cavity spot
• Seed shape

This has been carried out through a combination of experiments in controlled conditions and two field trials.

DArT marker data have also been collected on some of the parental lines of the Carrot Diversity Set which have allowed the population structure to be determined.

Example data – Susceptibility of CDS material to cavity spot during a field trial carried out at Wellesbourne.
